Long time!
Hi guys, it’s been a while, and for that I can explain. I got a new job! Which came right when I needed it. I’ve been adjusting and spending any free time with my boyfriend, family or just laying down watching Netflix haha. But I have been on a couple of trips and want to tell you about them soooo, I hope you enjoy this blog, which is all about our summer trip to Bristol!
So James’ best friend lives in Bristol with his girlfriend, and I’ve become really good friends with his girlfriend, they come to visit us often as our home town is his friends home town, so we decided we should take a trip to visit them down in Bristol! We travelled down on a Friday after work and stayed with them till Sunday, the journey was around 4 ish hours on two different trains, I’m pretty sure there isn’t a train that goes directly but it was a late train so we just chilled out and slept a little. I don’t know what I expected Bristol to be like but it didn’t disappoint. Being around our friends, kind of makes me feel refreshed, so I gathered whatever we did it’d be such a good time away from our little town.
We got in late so they picked us up from the station and they shown us to our room bless them, Johan gave up his little office/game room for our bed and Cerys had some towels out for us, very cute. Then we only had a home made meal waiting for us! It was delicious, home made vegan moussaka, watched half of a horror film and then went to bed, that train journey took it out of me, or the fact we did a full day in work before hand haha.
Considering we went to visit our friends, and their city, on our first full day, we disappeared to Gloucester! There was a food and wine festival and apart from the little down pour of rain we were caught in, it was great! We popped into Wetherspoons for a tea and coffee and to avoid the rain for a minute, (how British of us) and we met up with one of Cerys’ friends, and then Johan’s sister and her partner so there was a few of us! The boys got some beers, whiskey, and some vodka, your gal got a brookie, a half brownie, half cookie and it was as good as it sounds. We headed into TGI Fridays for lunch, had a wander around one of the many malls we found and then we headed back for a rest and some more moussaka, it really was delicious.
There wasn’t a lot near where our friends lived as they were so close to the train station you just hop on and off you go into Bristol City Centre, but there was a cute little pub that we went to and I won’t even lie to you, I was getting hangry and wanted garlic bread, it’s one of my go to’s when I’m really hungry and just want to snack on something hahahah, we got a mixture of things, I had the BEST orange gin and lemonade and was loving life. I think the others had a raspberry or strawberry one I can’t actually remember for sure. Then, as typical as you can get, we went to the little shop on the corner and grabbed lots of snacks for the rest of the night as our plans were to watch films/chill out on the PlayStation and just enjoy company.
Sunday morning came, and if Johans and Cerys’ host skills weren’t already getting a full score from me, I woke up to a nice hot cup of tea, and some toast, as we were heading into Bristol city centre for breakfast and thought a little snack before leaving would be nice. We found the cutest little streets and pebbled roads in the city centre just hiding away and these are just stunning. I found a little shop with the same name as James sister so had to take a picture for that reason and because it was stunning.
We didn’t have much time on the Sunday before our train so we did a little tour and came across The Clifton Suspension Bridge, had some photos, check out my Instagram to see those, thank you James for painfully smiling for one at least, and then strolled through the town until we got to another mall, stopped off for a drink we had smoothies and coffees, headed around the town a little more, found a pub which was rather dainty, then James came across a little board game cafe, we have these up here too but have yet to visit one!
We went back to the shop again for more snacks for the journey home, took a later train as we didn’t actually want to leave, and grabbed a sneaky little Chopstix when we got to Manchester waiting for our next train back home. It was such a good weekend and I’m so excited to be back and actually see a little more of Bristol, and spend time with our friends again.
Thank you for reading, hope you enjoyed my little post on our trip and the next post including a trip is our end of summer trip to Disneyland Paris! Instagram is where I will post about that once it's up!
Lots of love,
